Ingo co-founded South Pole in 2006 and built its early presence in Southeast Asia, supporting the development of more than 60 projects across the region. His work spans carbon markets, climate policy and the design of finance for renewable-energy and energy-efficiency projects, including investment funds developed with local partners in Asia.

He has advised the World Bank, International Energy Agency, Asian Development Bank and developing-country governments on regulations that create incentives for climate investment. In Thailand, he launched a joint venture in 2011 that operated South Pole’s first multi-technology renewable-energy programme under the Clean Development Mechanism, working with project developers, government counterparts and international supporters.

Thomas Chrometzka is a serial entrepreneur and energy policy specialist. His career spans the energy sector, clean technology policy and commercial strategy, with a focus on turning policy ambitions into viable businesses.

At GIZ, Thomas led a team embedded in Thailand’s Ministry of Energy, working alongside energy ministries and regulators across Southeast Asia to open up opportunities for renewable energy. He saw where policy could open doors, and where it ran out of road. For change to stick, a viable business had to take over.

As Chief Strategy Officer at Enapter, he tackled that commercial challenge in green hydrogen: make the technology competitive, win customers and scale. These experiences shape his approach to the coal transition: less about winning an ideological argument, more about building a business proposition that works for the people who have to make it happen. That thinking is what is driving him while designing SPARC.
